We don't have a creek but the ditch by the road stays open where it is lead in a pipe under our entrance drive. The blackbirds find something to eat there, and it is warmer than elsewhere. I love the sound of running water too.
Babies these days have a machine that makes noise and is supposed to help them sleep. the machines have various noises - rain with thunder, white noise, the ocean tide and a bubbling brook. My grandson goes to sleep with the sound of the brook (or creek) and to me, it is a soothing sound. My husband doesn't understand the idea of the noise machines.
